DOUBLE FEED DETECTING DEVICE, AUTOMATIC SHEET FEED DEVICE, AND METHOD OF DETECTING DOUBLE FEED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double feed detecting device capable of accurately detecting double feed even if a width of double feed is narrow, and to provide an automatic sheet feed device and a method of detecting double feed.

SOLUTION: The double feed detecting device includes a first element and a second element at positions opposite to each other across a sheet, and a direction in which an ultrasonic wave or a light passes through the sheet is vertical to the conveying direction of the sheet. The first element and the second element of the double feed detecting device are provided in a range from a downstream side of a joining point of an outside conveyance path and an inside conveyance path in the sheet feeding direction to this side of a reading part.
