A flashing with a flexible pivot to enable dissimilar substrates to be sealed regardless of expansion rates

An elongate flashing (1) for sealing a join between two substrates is disclosed. The flashing has flexible pivots to enable dissimilar substrates to be sealed regardless of the difference in their expansion rates. In cross-section the flashing has a middle body (2) with two legs at an angle to each other. A first leg is connected by a flexible joint to an attachment member (4). The attachment member can be adhered to a flat substrate and may have holes (8) to assist in keying in plaster etc. The second leg of the middle body is attached to a second attachment member (3) via another flexible joint (6a, 6b). The second attachment member is perpendicular to the first leg and is used for attachment to another substrate. The flexible joints allow dissimilar substrates at different orientations and expansion rates to be bridged.
