<p>A primer coating is provided for enhancing adhesion of liquid toner to polymeric substrates. The primer coating comprises a mixture of a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic or methacrylic acid, and an adhesion enhancer comprising a hydrogenated hydrocarbon rosin or rosin ester dispersion. The coating may also include additives such as antiblocking agents, wetting agents, matting agents and crosslinking agents. Also provided is a coated polymeric substrate with at least one surface coated with the primer coating. The primer coating may be from 0.1 to 2 microns thick. The invention also relates to a method of applying a primer coating to a polymeric substrate for enhancing adhesion of liquid toner to the substrate, and to a method of printing a polymeric substrate having the coating applied thereto.</p> |
