<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device that has a three-color lamp, and a reading mode for detecting a document size to prevent a user's sense of strong glare and feeling of discomfort. <P>SOLUTION: An image reading device includes: a contact glass; a document hold part for holding a document; an open/close detection part for detecting an event that the document hold part is brought down farther than a predefined position; an LED lamp for illuminating the document with three-color LEDs; an image sensor for reading the document by line unit; an AD conversion part; and an image processing part that processes image data, and detects a border between a bright part and a dark part of the image data for document size detection that detects a length of the document in the main scanning direction. The LED lamp sequentially emits light color by color for detecting a document size when an event that the document hold part is brought down farther than the predefined position is detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
