The method involves introducing combustion air into a working cylinder (10) through an inlet valve (12) during an intake stroke, where the inlet valve is operated at a predetermined valve lift constant with respect to a crank angle of an internal combustion engine. A cylinder load is introduced into the working cylinder through the inlet valve such that the cylinder load executes twisting movement. The cylinder load is introduced into the working cylinder through another inlet valve (14) at the valve lift variable with respect to the crank angle.
