The invention relates to a method for separating a hot gas flow that is charged with material, comprising essentially the following method steps: the hot gas flow (1) that is charged with material is separated into a gas flow (3) and a material flow (4) in a first separator (2), the material flow containing a coarse and a fine portion, and the material flow is then separated in an air separator (8) using at least part of the gas flow, the coarse portion (4a) of the material flow being removed while the fine portion (4b) is drawn off separately from the coarse portion (3) together with the gas flow.
