<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the keypad part of portable electronic equipment to be reduced in height yet to be sufficiently waterproofed. <P>SOLUTION: A waterproof device housing section 13 is formed between an opening 12 opened in a side wall 11 of an enclosure 10 and a switch 19 installed inside thereof, and a waterproof device 15 is contained in the waterproof device housing section 13. The waterproof device 15 comprises: a bottomed cylindrical part 15a formed in shape of a shallow cup into which a pusher 17 of a key top 16 is inserted; a flange part 15b formed around the opening edge of the bottomed cylindrical part 15a; and a water stop rib 15c protrusively formed on both faces of the flange part 15b so as to enclose the bottomed cylindrical part 15a, which are all integrally formed with a material having elasticity. The flange part 15b has a plate 15d buried therein, so that when the waterproof device 15 is pushed into the waterproof device housing section 13, it supports elastic deformation of the water stop rib 15c, and, with the restoring force thereof, brings the water stop rib 15c into close contact with the inner wall of the waterproof device housing section 13, whereby water is surely stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
