PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulator with high reliability that prevents the occurrence of defects due to heat.SOLUTION: An optical modulator comprises: a substrate 10 composed of an electro-optic crystal having multi-refraction characteristics; optical waveguides 28, 29 formed on the substrate 10; an optical modulation part 20 formed on the substrate 10 and configured to modulate a light wave transmitting through the optical waveguides 28, 29; and a multiplexing member 11 formed of the same electro-optic crystal as the substrate 10 and multiplexing two modulated light waves modulated at the optical modulation part 20 and output from an output end face 10a of the substrate. |
