PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method and a treatment apparatus of to-be-treated water capable of inhibiting, in advance, the generation of nitrous acid within the treated water.SOLUTION: The provided treatment method of to-be-treated water is a method wherein a body of to-be-treated water including chemical oxygen demand (COD) components and ammonia is introduced into and treated within a biological treatment tank housing an activated sludge including germs capable of decomposing COD components and comprises a step of measuring the ammonium oxidizing bacteria (AOB) count within the activated sludge and a step of adjusting the AOB count within the activated sludge based on the measured AOB count. It is desirable for the adjustment at the adjustment step to be rendered so as to realize an AOB count of less than 1×10(cells/mL-MLSS) within the activated sludge. The provided treatment apparatus of to-be-treated water comprises a biological treatment tank which houses an activated sludge and into which a body of to-be-treated water is scheduled to be introduced, a measurement unit for measuring the AOB count within the activated sludge housed within the biological treatment tank, and an adjustment unit for adjusting the AOB count within the activated sludge based on the AOB count measured by the measurement unit. |
