A binder for an electrode according to the present invention contains a copolymer latex obtained by emulsion polymerization, the binder for an electrode being characterized in that: the copolymer is formed of monomer components comprising 15-60 mass% of an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, 5-35 mass% of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, 0 mass% to less than 5 mass% of a vinyl cyanide monomer, and 5-80 mass% of a monomer that is copolymerizable with the above monomers; and when dynamic viscoelasticity measurement is performed on the film obtained by drying the copolymer latex, where Tp (°C) represents the peak top temperature for the largest peak of tanδ, the ratio (E1'/E2') between the average value E1' of the storage elastic modulus in the range (Tp - 60)°C to (Tp - 70)°C and the average value E2' of the storage elastic modulus in the range (Tp + 60)°C to (Tp + 70)°C is equal to or smaller than 1000.
|
