A cartridge and a detection method for a cartridge. The cartridge comprises an outer frame (1), barriers (2) which are located in the outer frame (1) and a detection device, wherein the detection device comprises a sensing device which is used for sensing the barriers (2), so as to obtain sensing information,and a first information processing device which is used for judging whether the position of each of the barriers is correct or not according to the sensing information.The cartridge and the detection method therefor can effectively detect whether the load size of the cartridge matches the size of a substrate to be loaded or not, thereby being able to ensure that the substrate is loaded in the cartridge safely.
