PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent disorder at a point of time when a clock of relatively low frequency for multiplication has rise/fall change by generating pulses for counter which has a finer width by using the clock for multiplication. ! SOLUTION: A pulse generation device includes: a gray code counter 120 which outputs a count value represented in gray code with clocks (C0) to (C3) of PLLs 1 to 4 obtained from a reference clock (1); a conversion circuit 130 including a gray code conversion part 9 which converts density data (8) of each pixel in a main scanning direction into an on-timing gray code and an off-timing gray code made to correspond to a period from on timing to off timing; and a pulse generation circuit 140 which generates a pulse signal (23) for a period of counting from the on-timing gray code to the off-timing gray code obtained by the conversion circuit 130. !
