<p>An arc chuteless circuit interrupter is disclosed. In accordance with certain aspects of the disclosure, a circuit interrupter is provided that interrupts flow of current in a circuit in response to an over-current event. The arc chuteless circuit interrupter does include an arc chute. Rather, it includes a permanent magnet or electrode as a means of extinguishing an electric arc formed by the separation of contacts in the circuit interrupter. The permanent magnet, electrode, or both stretch and lengthen the electric arc, thereby increasing its impedance and extinguishing the electric arc. FIG. 3</p> |
