Disclosed are a method and apparatus for detecting security of a downloaded file. The method specifically comprises: a client collecting a download scenario feature and a file feature of a downloaded file, and uploading the download scenario feature and the file feature to a cloud server; the cloud server matching the download scenario feature and the file feature with a cloud rule in a rule engine, to obtain a corresponding matching result, the cloud rule being obtained by comprehensively analyzing a download scenario feature and a file feature of a file sample; and the cloud server delivering the matching result to the client. The present invention has a desirable detection effect for a downloaded file whose feature code is not recorded in a secure feature code library in the prior art and files such as other unknown files, and has a very desirable detection effect for an outbreak of a virus file.
