calculating an offset value that indicates a temporal shift in the closed caption track relative to the media content item; calculating a drift value that indicates a difference in a temporal rate of the closed caption track relative to a temporal rate of the media content item; and aligning the closed caption track to the media content item as a function of the drift value and the offset value.
