PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a pupil dividing function capable of performing imaging of a high image quality.SOLUTION: A CPU 46 of an imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging element 44 having a plurality of pairs of pixel parts 10 and 11 for pupil division; and the CPU 46 generally controlling the whole. The CPU 46 of image apparatus allows an imaging element 44 to capture an image by performing control of whether or not each plurality of pairs made to function as a pixel part for pupil division or as a pixel part for photographing, further by allowing to function the pair in a specific area of the imaging element 44 as a pixel part for pupil division (step S5), detecting phase difference with a captured image signal obtained by the pair, performing focus adjustment with determination of a focal position based on the phase difference (step S6), and allowing to function the pair as a pixel part of photographing in accordance with a photographing condition after the focus adjustment (step S7). |
