<p>A stable paste composition comprising a proton pump inhibitor, a basifying agent and a mineral oil-based vehicle having a density of about 0.769 g/mL to about 0.915 g/mL at 15 °C as measured by ASTM D-1298, or a kinematic viscosity of about 10.5 mm2/s to about 90 mm2/s at 40 °C as measured by ASTM D-445. The proton pump inhibitor is preferably omeprazole and the basifying agent preferably monoethanolamine. The proton pump inhibitor may be about 20-42% w/w, preferably 34-39% w/w based on the total weight of the composition. The mineral oil-based vehicle may be about 57-79% w/w, preferably about 60-65% w/w. The mineral oil-based vehicle may have a density of about 0.820-0.895 g/mL, preferably about 0.855-0.865 g/mL. The mineral oil-based vehicle may have a kinematic viscosity of about 13.5-80 mm2/s, preferably about 65-75 mm2/s. The mineral oil-based vehicle is preferably liquid paraffin. The composition preferably does not comprise a thickening agent. The composition may be used as a medicament, preferably for the treatment or prevention of a disease or condition associated with increased gastric acid secretion, wherein the disease or condition may be gastric ulcers, preferably in horses.</p> |
