The present invention relates to a wheel drive device for an electric vehicle which gives a preload to an inner wheel of a wheel bearing to give an adequate weight to the wheel bearing to extend life of the wheel bearing, arranges the wheel bearing and a final gear horizontally to apply the wheel bearing regardless of a size of the final gear to increase design freedom, and applies a small wheel bearing to reduce a weight and manufacturing costs. The wheel drive device for an electric vehicle comprises: a motor installed in a motor housing to generate rotational power; an input gear connected to a rotary shaft of the motor; a reduction gear geared with the input gear; an output gear geared with the reduction gear; a final gear geared with the output gear; a shaft connected to the final gear; a hub mounted on the shaft by using a nut; a wheel bearing installed on the outer circumferential surface of the hub; a motor cover mounted on the motor housing; and a snap ring installed on the motor cover to support the wheel bearing to prevent the wheel bearing from escaping. |
