The present invention relates to a washing machine and a control method thereof to detect the vibration level while laundry is immersed in washing water in order to carry out a dewatering process after predicting the vibration level during the dewatering process. More specifically, the present invention relates to a washing machine and a control method thereof to reduce time for dewatering and to prevent a failure in dewatering by dispersing laundry while a washing tube is filled with washing water when detecting that the vibration level is out of an allowable range.
