The present invention relates to a mobile terminal which provides information more effectively by using a double-sided display unit, and to a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal includes: a first display unit and a second display unit which are arranged on different sides; a memory unit which stores an image and information linked to the image; and a control unit which displays the image and the information linked to the image on at least one from the first display unit and the second display unit depending on either a first display mode and a second display mode. In the first display mode, the image and the information linked to the image are displayed on either the first display unit or the second display unit. In the second display mode, when the image is displayed on either the first display unit or the second display unit, the information linked to the image is displayed on the other unit on which the image is not displayed.
