PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of abnormal noise in the compressor of a turbocharger in an engine including the turbocharger, at low cost.SOLUTION: An engine 1 comprises: a turbocharger 14; a low-pressure EGR device 44; and an ECU 60. The low-pressure EGR device 44 connects an exhaust passage downstream of a turbine 18 of the turbocharger 14 to an intake passage upstream of a compressor 16 to cause part of exhaust gas to reflow to the intake passage. The ECU 60 actuates the low-pressure EGR device 44 when a reduction in an engine rpm starts from a predetermined engine operation range. The predetermined engine operation range is set on the basis of an engine operation range in which abnormal noise is generated in the compressor 16 during the reduction in the engine rpm.
