Provided are: a ball screw having increased reliability, and having high positioning accuracy and strong affixing of a block member; and a method for producing same. The present invention is provided with: a nut (3) at the inner periphery of which a helical screw groove (3a) is formed; a hollow screw shaft (2) threaded into the nut (3) and at which a helical screw groove (2a) is formed comprising the same lead angle as that of the screw grove (3a) at the outer periphery; a ball (4) housed rollably in a rolling path formed from both screw grooves; and a block member (5) fitted to a block window (6) formed by notching a portion of the screw groove (2a) by penetrating the screw shaft through the inner and outer peripheral surfaces. The block member (5) is configured from a sintered metal formed by means of MIM. An S-shaped joining groove (5a) that causes the rolling path to be a rotation path is formed, and a pair of arms (9) fitting the screw groove (2a) are formed. The block member (5) is affixed to the screw groove (2) by means of a swaged section (7) formed by means of plastic deformation by partially crushing a plurality of locations of the land section (2b) between adjacent screw grooves (2a) in the axial direction. |
