Light is fed into a measurement cell and interference filters, forming parts of a wall, defining the optical path within the cell each couple out a spectral region from the cell. Detectors measure the intensity of the light coupled out. The part of the light not coupled out propagates further within the cell. Behind each interference filter (15,16,19) is a detector (21-23) sensitive to the corresp. spectral region. USE/ADVANTAGE - For detecting conc. of substance in gas or liquid phase, e.g. in sensing narcotics, exhaled air or toxicity for medical purposes. Compact, simple and requires minimal fluid transition time.
