<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stabilizer for emulsion polymerization exhibiting excellent dispersibility during an emulsion polymerization, capable of providing high viscosity aqueous emulsion and further excellent in strength of coating formed from the aqueous emulsion.SOLUTION: There is provided a stabilizer for emulsion polymerization containing a vinyl alcohol-based polymer (A), a ratio of a weight average molecular weight (Mw(A)) to a number average molecular weight (Mn(A)) of the vinyl alcohol-based polymer (A), (Mw(A)/Mn(A)), is 3 to 8, and the ratio of the weight average molecular weight (Mw(B)) to the number average molecular weight (Mn(B)) of a vinyl alcohol-based polymer (B) obtained by treatment of the vinyl alcohol-based polymer (A) in a sodium hydroxide solution at 40°C for 1 hour, (Mw(B)/Mn(N)), is 2 or more and less than 3.</p> |
