摘要 An orthodontic bracket consisting of two-components that are engaged and locked together to form the bracket assembly where the tooth component of the orthodontic bracket is semi-permanently glued to the tooth surface and the wire component of the orthodontic bracket is securely attached to the wire. When the wire component and the tooth component of the bracket assembly are engaged, the orthodontic wire that passes through the wire component of the bracket is deflected as a result; the alignment of the teeth occurs due to the elastic recoil of the orthodontic wire. The wire component of the bracket is completely detachable and re-attachable to the tooth component of the bracket.

An orthodontic bracket system used for orthodontic alignment of teeth, comprising a plurality of tooth components, each tooth component configured to be capable of being glued to a tooth surface, and a plurality of wire components; each said wire component having a wire slot configured to receive orthodontic arch wire in a manner that attaches said arch wire to said wire component, and at least prevents said wire component from rotating about said arch wire, thereby allowing coupling between said arch wire and said wire component to produce torquing movement; each said wire component and said tooth component further configured to allow an individual said wire component to be engaged and locked together with an individual said tooth component, either before or during a time when individual tooth component is glued to a tooth surface to form an individual two component bracket assembly with a minimum two surface contact that further acts to create a moment arm or lever arm for at least one of mesiodistal rotation, labio-lingual inclination and mesio-distal angulations; each said wire component and each said tooth component further configured to allow individual two component bracket assemblies, either before or during a time when said individual tooth component is glued to a tooth surface, to additionally be disengaged as needed.
