[Class 79 (v)] [Also in Group XXV] The centre arm 15 of steering gear for independently suspended wheels has an eye 15a at one end pivotally connected to a transverse member 11 of the chassis and at its other end a housing 15b formed with bores which intersect at right angles. Mounted slidably in the bores are seats for ball-ended studs 17, 18 and 19 connected respectively to a drag link 20 and tie rods 22 and 23, the studs being disposed closely together to minimise errors in the steering geometry of the assembly. The drag link is adapted to be rocked transversely by a pitman arm 14 operated by the steering column 13 through a gear-box 12 secured to a longitudinal member 10 of the chassis. |
