<p>An apparatus for sorting labels (14) provided on a backing strip (12) comprises a monitoring device (24) which is designed to measure at least one feature of a label (14) provided on the backing strip (12) and to output a signal characteristic of the feature; a backing strip buffer (30) which is designed to pick up a section of the backing strip (12) for each label (14) to be sorted out; a label transfer device (32) which comprises a selection element (44) which can be moved between a first position and a second position, and the label transfer device (32) is designed to displace labels (14) on the backing strip (12) when the selection device (44) is in the first position and to lead labels (14) to be sorted out into the backing strip buffer (30) when the selection element (44) is in the second position. The apparatus further comprises a control device (22), which is designed to receive the signal output by the monitoring device (24), to determine on the basis of the received signal whether an label (14) is to be displaced on the backing strip (12) or to be sorted out, and, for labels (14) to be sorted out, to output a first actuating signal to the label transfer device (32), wherein the first actuating signal is suitable to cause a movement of the selection element (44) into the second position; and a removal device (48), which is designed to separate the labels (14) led into the backing strip buffer (30) from the backing strip (12).</p> |
