A simple heating and/or chilling system has magnetic heat exchangers (12, 14) cooled via a magneto calorific effect with varying magnetic fields provided by rotating magnets and connected to hot and cold heat exchangers. The system is optimized by having the warm heat exchanger (50) with a flow cross section of between 32 and 3 square mm while the cold heat exchanger (20) has a flow cross section of between 48 and 52 square mm.
