627,720. Lathe details ; boring-heads. THRENSTROM, W. H. Oct. 25, 1946, No. 31701. [Class 83 (iii)] Rotary tool-heads.-A rotary tool-head comprises a cross slide 3 which is radially adjustable by means of a screw 8 coupled by means of transmission gearing to a gear ring 9 which is held stationary to cause radial movement of the slide, and a signalling device which is arranged to give a signal each time the cross slide has been adjusted a certain distance. The transmission gearing includes a gear 16 which is coupled by means of a spring-pressed arm 18 to the screw 8. The screw is provided with a radially protruding portion which once during one or more revolutions, or a fraction of a revolution, of the screw closes a contact device 15 in series with an electric lamp 30 and battery. The lamp may be replaced by a bell or the like and a part other than the screw may operate the signalling device. The cross slide may also be adjusted by a means of a key which is inserted in a hole 23 in the screw so as to move the arm 18 from engagement with the gear 16. Boring-heads.-The tool-head is stated to be used for boring chambered holes. |
