<p>A paintbrush which, when placed on a flat surface, maintains the bristles a distance above the surface by a series of protuberances 13 or a ridge (43, fig. 6). The brush comprises a handle 10 and a bundle of bristles 11 secured by a ferrule 12. Dimples 13 protrude from the ferrule 12 to a distance of about 3 mm. The paintbrush may be a cutting in brush with a handle (60, fig. 7) which has a rebate so that in use it nestles the thenar space of the users hand. The brush may also have a guard (80, fig. 11) comprising front and rear casing members connected by a living hinge (84, fig 10) and which enclose the ferrule and bristles of the paintbrush. The casing may have a clip means (82, Fig 10) and a lip means (83, Fig 10) to engage the ferrule.</p> |
