<p>A method comprises: detecting a user selection (e.g. initial, starting hint) via a user interface (GUI) of an image feature, in an image editing operation; image processing to identify additional (other, further) features or objects corresponding (e.g. similar) to the user selected feature; providing, via the user interface, functionality selectable to designate one or more features for the image editing operation from among a feature set that includes the (first) user selected feature and the additional identified features; and applying the image editing to designated features. The user-selected or chosen feature may be an unwanted image feature (e.g. defect, spot, dirt, streak, artifact, or facial blemishes such as pimples, acne, hair, cuts, freckles, birthmarks, or background, obscuring or distracting objects); similar such features may be detected or identified based on noise analysis and spot pattern matching. Also claimed is automatic spot (defect) healing (correction), using spot patterns learned from prior user interaction, and performed without explicit user selection of image defects.</p> |
