[Class 39 (i)] The envelope 5 of a discharge lamp with a fluorescent coating is of oval cross section, with relatively small radius of curvature at the sides. The walls of the envelope may be thickened as at 12 to form lenses. The filling is mercury and a noble gas. The discharge is stated to concentrate at the flat surfaces, the rounded parts being cooler. |
