The present disclosure includes a handheld processing device including medical applications for minimally and noninvasive glucose measurements. In an embodiment, the device creates a patient specific calibration using a measurement protocol of minimally invasive measurements and noninvasive measurements, eventually creating a patient specific noninvasive glucometer. Additionally, embodiments of the present disclosure provide for the processing device to execute medical applications and non-medical applications. |

1. A handheld processing device configured to monitor one or more physiological parameters of a patient by acquiring signals responsive to light attenuated by patient tissue at a measurement site on the patient, the device comprising:
a plurality of resources comprising:
a processor configured to execute a plurality of applications including a non-medical application and a medical application, said medical application responsive to said signals responsive to said light attenuated by said patient tissue at said measurement site on the patient;a data storage device communicating with said processor and configured to store data;a user interface communicating with said processor, said user interface comprising a display device and an input mechanism; anda connectivity module, communicating with said processor and configured to access a communications network; a physiological sensor including a light source and a detector, said physiological sensor configured to communicate said signals responsive to said attenuated light with said processor; and a priority mode processing device communicating with said processor, said priority mode processing device configured to provide, in response to a triggering event, priority access to, and use of, said plurality of resources to said medical application before said plurality of resources are accessed or used by said non-medical application. |
