A hand-cranked music box comprising a housing, a sound cylinder (6) provided with multiple protrusions (61), sound plates (5) fitted with the sound cylinder (6), and a transmission gear (62) fixed at one extremity of the sound cylinder (6), also comprising a ratcheting gear (4) meshed with the transmission gear (62), and a crank handle (3) provided with a drive gear (31) that is meshed with the ratcheting gear (4). Because the drive gear (31) is meshed with the transmission gear (62) via the ratcheting gear (4), when the crank handle (3) is cranked in one direction, the drive gear (41) is meshed with the ratcheting gear (4) to drive the ratcheting gear (4) into rotation, the ratcheting gear (4) is fitted with the transmission gear (62) to drive the transmission gear (62) into rotation, the transmission gear (62) is fixed at one extremity of the sound cylinder (6) to drive the sound cylinder (6) into rotation, and the protrusions (61) on the sound cylinder (6) allow the sound plates (5) to generate vibrations, thus producing music. When the crank handle (3) is rotated in the other direction, the ratcheting gear (4) and the transmission gear (62) are separated from each other, as the ratcheting gear (4) no longer drives the transmission gear (62), the transmission gear (62) and the sound cylinder (6) do not rotate, thus implementing ratcheting of the sound cylinder (6) to prevent the sound cylinder (5) from being damaged. |
