PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing lithium carbonate capable of easily removing interfering ions from a lithium chloride-containing brine solution.SOLUTION: A method of producing lithium carbonate is as follows. A lithium chloride-containing solution 30 is supplied to an electrochemical cell 12 to produce lithium hydroxide 36 in the cell 12. The lithium hydroxide solution 36 from the electrochemical cell 12 is brought into contact with carbon dioxide gas 44 in a reaction vessel 38 to produce a solution 40 that includes lithium carbonate. The lithium carbonate 40 is separated to produce a stream of product 56 to be collected and a sodium chloride stream, which can be recycled to the electrochemical cell 12. |
