A ruminant feed supplement, preferably in the form of a prill, comprises at least one anionic/cationic salt nutrient, such as potassium carbonate, embedded within a fatty acid mixture that preferably comprises palmitic acid and at least one hydrogenated vegetable oil. Particles of the anionic/cationic salt nutrient(s) are preferably aggregated together as a "core" that is surrounded by the fatty acid mixture. A method for making the ruminant feed supplement comprises coating a molten fatty acid mixture onto aggregated particles of the anionic/cationic salt nutrient(s). |
