1. An ice dispensing assembly, comprising:
a vertical drive shaft; rotatable blades coupled to the drive shaft; a stationary plate with an opening formed therein; an ice bucket comprising at least one side wall that defines an inner surface of the ice bucket; and a shield disposed within the ice bucket, the shield comprising at least one side member, the at least one side member increasing in width along its length downwardly from a top of the shield, wherein the at least one side member is directly coupled to the inner surface of the inner bucket, wherein the shield is positioned directly over the opening and is sufficient to cover at least an area of the opening, and wherein the rotatable blades are disposed below the shield and above the stationary plate; and wherein a length of the rotatable blades is slightly less than or equal to a diameter of the ice bucket. |
