摘要 This technology pertains to an encoding device and encoding method which make it possible to improve the encoding efficiency of images having multiple viewpoints, and to a decoding device and decoding method. A motion-parallax-prediction/compensation unit sets the following information in a list (L0) in a first order, and in a list (L1) in a second order which differs from the first order: first-image-identifying information for identifying a first image having a viewpoint extending in a first direction from the viewpoint of the image to be encoded; and second-image-identifying information for identifying a second image having a viewpoint extending in a second direction which is opposite from the first direction. The motion-parallax-prediction/compensation unit and a calculation unit encode the image to be encoded and generate encoded data on the basis of the list (L0) and the list (L1). It is possible to use this technology in, for example, an encoding device or the like for encoding a 3D image.
