PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that includes a slide-type lock mechanism and a cover that can be opened and closed without being half-opened.SOLUTION: A lock mechanism 33 includes: a first lock member 41 and second lock member 42 that can move between a lock position to engage with an apparatus body to regulate opening of a cover from a closed state and a lock release position to release the engagement with the apparatus body to permit the opening of the cover; and a lever member 43 that causes the first lock member 41 and second lock member 42 to move between the lock position and lock release position. The first lock member 41 and second lock member 42 are formed such that the first lock member 41 has the larger amount of engagement with the apparatus body at the lock position than the second lock member 42, and the first lock member 41 is provided with an engagement piece 49 that can rotate along with the rotation in the opening direction of the cover at the lock release position. |
