<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery that is protected by causing an electrical short circuit to one or more electrodes when an internal pressure of a case increases due to over-charging and the like.SOLUTION: A secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode plate and a second electrode plate; a case accommodating the electrode assembly; a cap assembly to seal the case, the cap assembly having a short-circuit hole and a cap plate electrically connected to the first electrode plate; an inversion plate including an inversion section positioned in the short-circuit hole and bent toward the interior of the case, and an edge section provided at an edge of the inversion section and coupled to the cap plate; and a short-circuit plate that is positioned at the exterior of the case and spaced from the cap plate and extends to a region above the short-circuit hole, the short-circuit plate being electrically connected to the second electrode plate. The cap plate includes a deformation inducing groove that is formed in a vicinity of the short-circuit hole and spaced apart from the marginal section of the short-circuit hole.</p> |
