PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel polyorganosiloxane with excellent solubility in an alkali aqueous solution.SOLUTION: A polyorganosiloxane is represented by the general formula (1) in the figure. (In the formula, Rrepresents an aromatic hydrocarbon group ; Rrepresents a C1-6 alkyl group; Rrepresents an aliphatic saturated dicarboxylic acid residue; n represents an integer from 1 to 7; and Xto Xare selected from among a hydrogen atom, a silicon atom and C1-3 alkyl groups, where Xto Xmay be all identical.
