PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1,3-propanediol capable of reacting glycerol at a high conversion rate (reaction rate), and producing 1,3-propanediol at high selectivity, even when sulfuric acid is not used in a reaction of glycerin and hydrogen.SOLUTION: In this method for producing 1,3-propanediol, which is a method for producing 1,3-propanediol by reacting glycerin with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst, the catalyst contains iridium carried on a meso-porous material, and at least one or more kinds of metals selected from a group comprising nickel, rhenium, rhodium, palladium, platinum and osmium. |
