The present disclosure includes circuits and methods for controlling skin temperature of an electronic device. In one embodiment, a thermal sensor is configured on a case of a handheld electronic device. The thermal sensor is coupled to a battery charger having a current limit circuit. If the sensed temperature of the case increases above a threshold, a current limit is reduced to reduce current in the battery charger.

1. An apparatus comprising:
a case having an internal surface and an external surface; a battery charger circuit configured inside the case, the battery charger circuit comprising a current limit circuit setting a maximum current in the battery charger circuit; a thermal sensor circuit configured on the internal surface of the case and external to the battery charging circuit, wherein the thermal sensor circuit senses a temperature on the internal surface and adjusts the current limit circuit in the battery charger circuit when the temperature on the internal surface meets a threshold.
