<p>Disclosed herein is a method for preparing a polyethersulfone. The method includes oxidation of a poly arylene ether sulfone-sulfide compound including a repeat unit represented by Formula 1 with an aqueous solution of an organic acid and an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide. In the method, the overall process is carried out under mild conditions of 190°C or less, thereby enabling economic preparation of a polyethersulfone without complicated post-treatment, such as separation of by-products formed from a basic compound, and the like.
