PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high purity hydrogen without gas purification by a separation membrane or the like, by dehydrogenation reaction of aliphatic polyhydric alcohol and sugar alcohol having high hydrogen yield for unit weight.SOLUTION: At least one or more kinds of aliphatic polyhydric alcohol and sugar alcohol are used as raw materials for acquiring high purity hydrogen using a metal complex catalyst in a solution including an ether solvent, by dehydrogenation reaction. As the metal complex catalyst, preferably, an iridium complex catalyst expressed by the formula (1) is used. In addition, as a ligand, 6,6'-dihydroxy-2,2'-bipyridine is used for acquiring high catalytic effect. |
