PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device that can illuminate at sufficiently even luminance while making speckle unnoticeable.SOLUTION: An illumination device 40 comprises: a first diffusion element 50; an irradiation device 70 that irradiates the first diffusion element with coherent light so as to scan on the first diffusion element; a deflection element 55 that changes an optical path of the coherent light diffused by the first diffusion element; a uniformization optical element 65 through which incident light passes while totally reflected; and a second diffusion element 60 that is arranged in the optical path from the deflection element to the uniformization optical element. The coherent light, which is incident upon a certain area on the first diffusion element and diffused, and the coherent light, which is incident upon other area different from the certain area on the first diffusion element and diffused, are respectively converged to the second diffusion element by the deflection element, pass through the uniformization optical element after diffused by the second diffusion element, and are used in illumination. |
