The present invention relates to a super absorbent resin having a low level of a decrease in absorption rates and a preparation method thereof. Specifically, in preparing the super absorbent resin, an amount of an initiator based on an amount of a monomer is minimized to prepare a uniformly cross-linked acryl resin which has a main chain with a high molecular weight and retains high strength of a gel, thereby providing a super absorbent resin capable of preventing skin rash due to excellent rewet prevention capability of preventing water from oozing out over time when pressed, and a preparation method thereof.
