<p>A waste sorting apparatus (100) including an input conveyor (102) for conveying an input stream of mixed waste materials; a number of output conveyors (126, 128, 130, 132 and 136) for conveying output streams of waste materials; and a number of operator stations (124) for human operators where the input conveyor and the output conveyors are accessible from each operator station to allow each operator to sort items of different types to the output streams. A plurality of output streams then transport the sorted materials where it may be further sorted or processed. Mixed waste enters the apparatus on the input conveyor (102). Waste is then distributed by human operators from operating stations (124) located alongside the conveyers. Sorting means include throwing, dropping, placing waste into a variety of conveyors (126, 128, 130, 132 and 136) and chutes (134, 138).</p> |
