<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer that has excellent gas barrier property, transparency, heat resistance and chemical stability, and also to provide a method for producing said polymer.SOLUTION: Provided are an alicyclic hydrocarbon-based polymer and a method for producing the same, in which an alicyclic hydrocarbon-based polymer having a structural unit represented by the chemical formula (1) as repeating unit is obtained by ring-opening polymerizing a monomer comprising either one or both of 5,6-carbonate derivative or 5,6-dialkoxy derivative of norbornene, using a metathesis catalyst, and hydrogenating the unsaturated groups to bring into saturation, and further hydrolyzing the same.
