<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master controller that allows the extension of a connection distance between an operating portion and a control portion of the master controller, stores the control portion in a place other than a motorman's cab, and secures a space for equipment stored in the motorman's cab, and achieves reduction in the number of vehicle electric wire fittings by reducing the number of output signals of an angle sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The master controller 1 is used in a railway vehicle and configured such that an operating portion 10, using an angle sensor 15 in order to detect an angle of a handle 11 for operating notch commands, and a control portion 20 thereof are separated from each other.
